The city of Richmond Hill Landscaping By-Law
Richmond Hill is a town in south-central York Region, Ontario, Canada. Part of the Greater Toronto Area, it is the York Region's third most populous municipality and the 28th most populous municipality in Canada.
In the 1820s, Miles' Hill was renamed Richmond Hill. The oft repeated story is that it was so named after a visit to the area by Governor General of British North America Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond on July 13, 1819. However, another well repeated story is that the area's first schoolteacher, Benjamin Barnard, was from a Richmond Hill in England, and taught all his classes the folk song The Lass of Richmond Hill because he was nostalgicfor his old home.

Grass Height Limit: Property owners must ensure that grass and weeds on their property, including adjoining boulevards, do not exceed 20 centimeters (approximately 8 inches) in height.

Boulevard Maintenance: Owners are responsible for maintaining the boulevards adjacent to their properties, ensuring compliance with the height restriction.

Outdoor Water Use By-law

Watering Restrictions: Outdoor water use is permitted between midnight and 6 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on odd/even days, with a maximum of four hours.

New Sod and Seed: A one-month grace period is provided for new sod and seed, during which watering restrictions are relaxed to facilitate establishment.
